Whiplash is an injury to the neck and occurs when the neck is forced in a direction and then rebounds back in the opposite direction. This whipping motion commonly occurs during a front end or rear ended automobile collision causing the neck muscles to tighten and contract. This tires out the muscles resulting in pain and stiffness. Severe whiplash can result in damage to the joints, ligaments, nerve roots, and to the cervical discs. Symptoms are included but not limited to: blurred vision, nausea, headaches, general stiffness, ringing in the ear, and pain in the arms.
